What I do

My Coaching Approach

My coaching approach is rooted in my belief that all of us, as individuals, have a unique purpose in life and can choose to recognise, appreciate, accept, integrate, and develop our individual strengths through proactive life choice and coaching practices.

My purpose is to provide a professional, confidential, trustworthy, safe, containing and affirming environment to coach individuals, couples or groups to realise their potential through coaching to possibilities and positive choice.

I employ a coaching approach that includes:

  • listening to each unique story
  • creating a mutual thinking environment
  • the use of various case-specific coaching techniques and tools, and the appropriate use of Psychometric Assessments; which are intended to facilitate greater conscious awareness in the individual, and in turn may display the potential possibilities that are open to the individual, should they choose to do something different.

I invite my coaching clients to experience the necessary awareness and consciousness in their lives that enables them the freedom to choose to create shifts and to implement the necessary steps or actions to effect positive change in their lives, and ultimately to realise their true potential.
……choose to be all you can be through integrated conscious awareness, self-care, self-discipline and proactive life choice.

Successful coaching:

  • enables long term excellent performance (it helps people achieve their objectives),
  • is self generating (it empowers people to continually improve by their own efforts) and
  • is self correcting (it enables people to correct their own performance).
  • raises self-awareness, self-leadership, the awareness of, and leadership of others.

Coaching is a highly effective means of creating accountability and releasing creative opportunities for finding solutions to day to day, and strategic organisational objectives for empowering your staff.

Coaching thus makes use of an “ask” style – the coach asks good questions in order to get the client to raise his or her awareness and develop the capacity for multiple-perspective thinking. This enables individuals to develop their own ideas and solutions and thus take ownership of them. Because the individual is encouraged to come up with their own solutions and actions, they commit to achieving their objectives.

Coaching requires a specific mind-set and attitude towards people which is optimistic and operates from the perspective of viewing people as essentially capable and valuable.  It requires developing self-reflection skills which can be engaged in analytical as well as caring behaviours.

Creating a Coaching Culture

A culture:

  • Which values people
  • Believes they are filled with potential
  • Believes they have within them what is best
  • Believes they are responsible and accountable
  • Which asks rather than tells
  • Which provides scope for people to take decisions
  • Treats people as unique individuals who can contribute
  • Which provides human connection & relationship

It is the preferred form of leadership and embodies a way of being – leadership presence – as well as being able to “do”. It allows individuals and organisations to grow organically and healthily. It is a “freedom based” culture (vs. command/control)
